“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God…” Ephesians 2:8

Confession: I am addicted to busyness.

I’m a lot of other things too – pianist, photographer, booklover, coffee-addict – to name a few. But when it comes to my priorities and motivations, my workaholic tendencies have had a major impact on my entire almost-22-years of life!

In high school, this meant piano concerts, band rehearsals, student council, part-time job, and dual credit classes.

After high school, this led to moving to the UK, working with churches, volunteering in the community, and reading lots of non-fiction.

For the past two years, this has looked like working full-time back in my hometown of Waxahachie, Texas, fast-tracking my Computer Science degree, and becoming even more addicted to coffee than I was before.

My addiction to busyness has actually blessed me with a lot of opportunities to do a lot of cool stuff. But often, my motivation behind being busy was to feel fully valued.

And you know what?

Being “accomplished” or “respected” or “important” or “admired” never brings full satisfaction. The only place I’ve ever felt fully valued, fully seen, fully loved, and fully at peace is at the feet of Jesus – despite my many, many, MANY attempts to find it through my own busyness.

That’s why I love this verse in Ephesians so much. Because even though my busy habits constantly distract me from what’s important to The Lord, it’s GRACE that makes me saved – and there’s always enough grace to bring me back to Him!

I love telling people about this amazing, transformative, inconceivable grace that can only be found through Jesus! I love it so much, in fact, that I’m going to spend this upcoming June in Colombia with the World Race: Semesters Program. I’m so excited to see how God will use this opportunity to bring a little bit of light to Medellin and a whole lot of transformation in me.

This blog will be where I post updates about my upcoming journey. Your prayers and financial support are always very appreciated!

Your Faithful Wanderer,
Emily
